THEATRON's Executive Committee, which meets monthly, is currently comprised of a small number of qualified individuals, with rich backgrounds in the artistic and managerial fields. The Executive Committee is also empowered to increase its membership-applications are welcome-with individuals who have expertise in their respective fields, and who will be committed to the fulfillment of THEATRON's professional standards, goals and aspirations.

 

 

Loukas N. Skipitaris came to the United States from his native Greece after brief careers in medical and law schools. In America he studied acting with some of New York's finest teachers and completed a Master's degree at Queens College in Drama and Theater. He made his Broadway acting debut in Illya Darling, with Melina Mercouri, and subsequently appeared in the original Broadway production of Zorba, directed by Hal Prince. He has acted Off-Broadway, in National tours, and in addition to his featured role in the prime time TV series "The Andros Targets," has had running roles in "As the World Turns," "The Guiding Light," and "One Life to Live." Recently he appeared on "The Late Show" with David Letterman. He began directing in 1971, at the Off-Broadway Gate Theater in NYC. His credits in the United States and in Greece, include productions of Greek Classics and plays by Anton Chekhov, Tennessee Williams, George Bernard Shaw, Neil Simon, Ira Levin and others. At Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall he directed the World Premiere of the oratorio Erotocritos, and as the producer-director of the LA-MA Summer Musical Theater, has staged, among others, the musicals Oklahoma!, Carousel and West Side Story. Mr. Skipitaris is the founder and director of The Acting Place, an ongoing professional acting workshop in New York City, and as the Founding Director/President of THEATRON, INC., a not-for-profit corporation, is actively engaged in the establishment of a Greek American Performing Arts Center.

 

 

Nat Habib has produced over one hundred forty off-Broadway, regional and touring shows, and has directed in excess of sixty productions both on the professional and educational level. During a span of thirty years, he has conducted numerous acting workshops and has provided consulting services to many producers and theaters. Mr. Habib was responsible for the growth and development of the Scarsdale Summer Music Theater, a program for young adults interested in the performing arts. During his tenure as the Producer-Director from 1974-1987 he produced and directed thirteen musicals, including My Fair Lady ,Damn Yankees ,Anything Goes, and others. Many of the participants in this program have moved on to successful careers in the theater world and television. For eleven years he was the Artistic Director-Producer of the Riverwest Theater, an Actors Equity Theater in Manhattan. During his tenure at the Riverwest Theater, he instituted a policy of introducing new works, both dramatic and musical, some of which, like Night Club Confidential and Pageant , were optioned for productions in theaters all over America and abroad. He also was the Artistic Director-Producer of the Oceanwest Theater in Rhode Island for twelve years, where he produced shows such as Patrick Pearse Motel ,Dead Wrong ,The Ninth Step ,Gentlemen Prefer Blondes , and Dames at Sea , to name but a few. Mr. Habib's credits also include a number of productions, which sought his talents as an independent producer.

 

 

Demetrios Bonaros (Producing Director) has appeared in The Doctor in Spite of Himself and is acting in and producing Crooks & Co. With the Hipgnosis Theatre Company, he has produced, acted in and written music for Measure for Measure, The Winter’s Tale and The Taming of the Shrew. Other acting credits include Much Ado about Nothing (Compass Rose Theatre Company), Harvest (Richard Schechner’s East Coast Artists) and The Island, with Philadelphia’s internationally acclaimed Pig Iron Theatre Company. Demetrios has been a guest soloist with the Swarthmore College chorus, and has served as bass section leader for St. Peter’s Church in the Great Valley. He has studied Mathematics and Theatre at Swarthmore College and Villanova University; Commedia dell’Arte with Italian Maestro Antonio Fava; Lecoq (neutral mask, clown, bouffon) with Pig Iron member Sarah Sanford; piano and music harmony and counterpoint at the Conservatory of Athens, Greece; and voice with Julian Rodescu. Demetrios also plays trumpet, accordion, percussion and ukulele. He is fluent in English and Modern Greek, and also speaks Ancient Greek and some French.
